NoH8 Campaign - Ring Finger Studio supports Marriage Equality.

I believe in marriage and I love being married.  I took my marriage very seriously as a joining of two people, and a joining of two families.  The ceremony and tradition seemed like a way of legitimizing the commitment that Chris and I had already privately made to one-another.

Personally, I feel marriage should be a choice for everyone regardless of whether they fit neatly into the "man meets woman, falls in love, and gets married" box.

I went to the NoH8 photoshoot to show my love and support for all of my LGBT friends and clients and
here's my photo:

Rally for Kids with Cancer - Miami - 2011

Ring Finger Studio made a one-of-a-kind ring (featuring a 22.62 carat pink tourmaline!) for the Rally for Kids with Cancer event in its second year here in Miami.

We were honored to have Eva Longoria wearing it, and were thrilled that it raised $12,000 for such a great cause.

Two days of events culminated with the "Winners Circle" Jeans and Jewels gala and auction at Eden Roc on April 30th.

The money raised helps local children's cancer programs but I was touched to see what they do to directly help families like the Thayer family.   The Thayer family have gone through an unimaginable tragedy.  Losing their 4 year old daughter to cancer, then having their 14 year old son diagnosed with cancer as well.  About to lose their house, the Rally stepped in and presented them with a check.  It hit everyone very hard to learn of Jalen's passing at the beginning of April.  His optimism in light of such a cruel disease should make us all take a step back and count our blessings.

It was also a very poignant reminder of why everyone was there.  The ultimate goal is to find a cure, but in the meantime they're doing whatever they can to ease the suffering along the way.

Some highlights of the evening were hearing from a family helped by the charity whose daughter had been receiving treatment for her cancer last year and by this year was in remission and celebrating at the gala.

Another highlight was an impromptu speech given by Alan T. Brown, founder of the Alan T. Brown Foundation to cure Paralysis, calling on the crowd to join together and pledge $1000 to Rally for Kids.  In less than 2 minutes $21,000 was raised!

The Royal Wedding Celebrated in Miami

I know its a little crazy to get up at 3:00 to watch a Royal Wedding but I couldn't resist when asked to participate in the Royal Wedding viewing party at Ever After along with Miami Magazine.

I think we were all enchanted by the modern fairy tale element to the marriage of Kate Middleton and Prince William.  How could you not find a bit of magic in a girl with a humble background growing up to marry a prince?

We of course had jewelry inspired by the Royal Jewels on hand for the ladies to try on.

A group gasp at the first glimpse of the dress!
(ALSO: Take note how good everyone looks at 5 o'clock in the morning!  I was impressed!)

Our prediction for Kate's Earrings.  Can you believe how close we were!?

We asked the ladies to guess the total diamond carat weight in a selection of rings....yes...trivia at 5:00am!

Gillian's reaction when I announced that her guess was less than a quarter of a carat off and that she won $500 from Ring Finger Studio toward an engagement ring or wedding bands!

The Kiss!

A big thank you to Camille from Ever After, Miami Magazine, and Carlos Baez.

Welcome Baby Gerard!

This month was a blur of busy-ness and it's easy to get caught up in the hustle so it was really nice to take a trip to NY to meet our first nephew, Gerard Stephan Carita.  Both Chris and I took a deep breath and spent some much needed time with family.

He's the first nephew and he's most certainly going to be spoiled!

I know I'm partial, but how cute is he!?

A few more pics from our trip:

Chris' little brother Gregory - totally in love with his new nephew.

A totally smitten new uncle.

Love you little guy!

Jeff's Engagement Ring; A Tale of Two Nations

We've definitely had some interesting design requests here at the studio, but I think our latest client, Jeff, wins in the originality department.  Jeff's now fiancee, Elvia, is originally from Juarez, Mexico.  Jeff came up with the idea of having Mexican silver mixed into his diamond solitaire engagement ring as a sign of respect to Elvia's heritage.
Well, after nearly two months of hunting, calling, and a near trip to Mexico City, Jeff managed to secure two silver rings from South-of-the-Border and we created a custom white gold alloy which contained 15% Mexican Silver.
He was thrilled, she said yes, and I don't think Jeff would be offended if we say we're glad its done!

P.S.  I can't wait to hear the ideas for the wedding bands...

Let's not forget the diamond either...it's a 2.03 carat Ideal Cut round brilliant.
