Trend Alert with Hope Henderson: Bright Eyes!

In honor of fashion week, I wanted to talk about trends that can go from the catwalk to the sidewalk. There is color everywhere during fashion week and we are seeing alot of it on the eyes. I love colorful, vivid eye shadow that smacks you right in the face! It draws attention and makes you more confident. You can wear the trend as is by placing one main bright and bold color all over your eyelid and into the crease extending it past the eye. Wing some black liner out along with it to give it more edge or place a brighter color on the center of your eyelids for some pop. If you aren't feeling quite that daring then start simple and build up using pastels instead of vibrant shades. Use a neutral color in the crease of your eye then add the pastel color on your eyelid. 


The bottom line it: Don't be afraid of color! If there is a color you love to wear in clothing, chances are you will like it on your eyes.

Aside from creating our beautiful selection of conflict free diamond engagement rings, RFS gets involved in charity events, we like to do trunk shows with exclusive selections of estate  jewelry, we like to educate all the clueless men of Miami on diamonds, we like to combine forces with other small business (or big ones),  and we LOVE to utilize new media!!  I suppose you could say we like to be involved... in A LOT.

Monthly Make Up Tips with Hope Henderson

Last month we introduced you to the lovely, Hope Henderson.  She will be providing the RFS blog with a make up tid bit, trend or fun fact every month.  This month she offers a little advice for winter wedding make up. 

Hope says: 

The #1 thing to worry about for a winter wedding is your skin. The weather can make your skin so dry and blotchy. Be sure to drink plenty of water and exfoliate. Use a hydrating mask at night to help lock the moisture in. For winter weddings especially, I like to mix MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion with a regular moisturizer to make the skin have a natural looking gorgeous glow. It's light enough to work well on oily skin as well as dry. Once you put your foundation on top of the moisturizer your skin will look picture perfect! 

Something that always looks great in winter is a deeper shade of lipstick or red lips. Anyone can pull off red lips, you just have to find the right shade. Go to a cosmetic counter and play around with the shades. Find one that is the most flattering and wear it around the rest of the day. You'll be surprised how confident and sexy it makes you feel. Some of the shades I like the most are MAC Dubonnet, NARS Vesuvio, and Bare Escentuals Red Delicious.

Not to worry, there is Hope for you!!

Hope Henderson is a local make up artist who will be providing the RFS blog with monthly tips on make up trends for every occasion, whether you're the bride or a guest she will let us know how everyone can look their absolute best for all their special moments. 

I asked Hope how she became interested in make-up and she isn't really sure where the passion came from.  She says she never wore that much in high school but loved playing with eye shadow. Her friends recognized her talent and would ask her to do their make up. At 20, she decided to go to Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry in Ft. Lauderdale where she refined her skills and learned techniques like airbrushing, and custom blending. She later went to Florida Academy of Skincare to get her esthetician license so she is able to educate clients about their skin while doing their makeup. 

In 2005, Hope was hired by MAC.  She knew she had found her niche.  MAC forced her to see outside of the box and Hope says she would spend countless hours outside observing others.  She was quickly given more responsibility and  excelled with it.  In 2007, she became a MAC store Assistant Manager.  In 2008, Hope was able to open a new MAC counter as the Manager and in 2009 she took the position as Store Manager in Sarasota. In 5 years Hope was able to do makeup on everyone from 8-92 years old and every skin color/skin type. 
 

Hope loved working for MAC but realized that the next promotion would mean more paperwork and less makeup.  Hope was getting married now and moving back to Naples and this was perfect opportunity to start her own business. In her first year of business, she far exceeded her expectations, not only having done plenty of wedding parties, she was able to do more editorial shoots. One highlight was being the makeup artist for the Naples International Film Festival Poster this year and she said seeing the poster around the city was surreal.  Another was when Paige Miles, of American Idol, asked Hope to do her make up when she was in town for a charity event.

Now, Hope is anxiously looking forward to 2011 and what it’s going to bring. She is open to work with anyone and travel anywhere.  Check out some of her work below!  RFS can't wait to hear tips from Hope and share them with you!
